Feature: The Seafarer and the Moonlight

Dastoli Digital sent me a fantastic paper cutout animation, titled: “The Seafarer and the Moonlight”. Note to self: Avoid sailing under the full moon with vikings.
All of the animation elements are made from paper. The backgrounds were glued together and photographed as one piece, while animation elements were cut out and photographed individually. All the parts were brought into Adobe After Effects for colorization and animation.
More photos and description of the animation process can be found on the Dastoli Digital Facebook page, and studio blog. Additionally, you can subscribe to their YouTube channel.
I really like the animated waves in their brickfilm: Escape from Sabre Island. There are other effects that look great, including cannon fire, flickering torches, and the guard's disappearance over a cliff.
